My Top Four Highlighters

Hello everyone and a very happy Monday to you all!  I move in to college in two days which is absolutely crazy, and I'm spending half my time packing like a madwoman, and the other half trying to figure out how summer is almost over.  All summer long though I've had an obsession with highlighters, and I feel like because of that I've figured out what works for me and what doesn't as far as highlighters go, so I thought I would share my absolute all time favorite highlighters with y'all!

I've talked about this palette for ever and ever (since Christmas lol), but this is the best everyday highlighter I've tried.  It's not glittery, which I hate in any kind of makeup, but it's just so glowy without being over the top.  It's also such a flattering color, it makes you look like a glowing goddess not even messing!  So if you are looking for an amazing highlighter that isn't super in your face, I would 10/10 recommend this one!

Both of the highlighters in this palette are absolutely stunningly gorgeous, and there's been so much hype around this product that I know I don't even have to explain it!  But if you want a really crazy glow highlight, definitely go for this palette, or any of Becca's highlighters really!

This Clinique eyeshadow shade, which is the lightest shade in their Teddy Bear quad and was also in their holiday set this year, is actually the most gorgeous highlight.  I know that's a bit weird to use an eyeshadow as a highlighter, but trust me, this is so so gorgeous.

This is my favorite cream highlighter because it's just so effortless looking and natural on, so I love it for just everyday with a bit of bb cream and mascara because it gives your face a pop without being too over the top!  Also, Arbonne is a really great brand that uses really wonderful ingredients, so if you haven't used them before give their website a look!

I hope this post got you all excited to get glowy, I know I always am!  I hope y'all have a great rest of your day and I will talk to you all very soon!

Back to School Survival Tips

Hello everyone and a very happy Friday to you all! Random thought, but I watched Zoe Sugg's vlog when she goes to the village she grew up in, and now I just really want to move to an English village, you know?  This also happens every single time I watch The Holiday, also Love Actually... maybe one day I'll live in a Jane Austen-esque village, but for now I'm going back to school in USA so I thought I'd share how I have survived school all these years!

1 // Write Down Everything

I know that there are people all over the place who swear by all digital everything, but for me I have to write stuff down or else I just lose track of it.  From notes to important dates to everything in between, I always write everything down, and this helps me stay on top of school and not forget everything I learn every single day!

2 // Don't Put Too Much Pressure on Yourself

Now don't get me wrong, it's important to push yourself to a healthy extent so that you can excel, but this can get out of hand and that's when you'll burn out super quickly.  It always helps me to put everything from grades to social life in perspective, and know that realistically none of it really makes me who I am.

3 // Ask for Help

This is super important and something that honestly I used to hate doing when I was younger. Whether it's a friend or your mom, or a professional tutor, if you're struggling with grasping a subject don't ever hesitate to ask someone to help you, even if it's just calling out terms to you.

4 // Be Serious About Time-Management

This was something I worked super hard at in high school, and it just helped my overall stress levels so much.  If you know how much time you have and how much time you are going to need to apply to different tasks, it can make school so much less overwhelming.

5 // Take Time for Yourself

I've said this before, but it is so so important to take some time each day for yourself when you do just what you want, and don't worry about school in the slightest.  For me, that may be having a nice breakfast where I sit down and read the paper, or having a nice bath, or drawing or reading for a while.  Whatever it is for you, just make sure you take plenty of time for you!

And that's how I survive any semester, no matter how grueling!  Y'all school is a blessing, but it can definitely be so so hard, so I hope this helps some of y'all!  Thank you guys for reading and I will talk to y'all very soon!

Product Review: Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams

I know I've mentioned these quite a few times on the blog already, but I thought I would do a full on review as I have expanded my little collection of these lip creams!  The shades I have are (from left to right) London, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Tokyo.  London is a very cool toned brown-nude, Stockholm is more of a pink toned nude, Copenhagen is a very dark plum-red, and Tokyo is a deep bright pink.  I love these lip creams so much because they go on so smoothly, and they kind of feel a bit mousse-like, so you don't have to worry about them being as messy as a more liquid lipstick.

These seriously are so long lasting, and for being a matte lipstick they aren't incredibly drying.  I mean, they are a bit just because that's their nature, but really not bad!  I reach these almost every single day and they are such a steal (I think they are about six dollars), you can't go wrong with buying one of these!

My Favorite Art Supplies

Hello everyone and happy Monday!  Um quick confession before I start this post, I started listening to Christmas music this week.  I did and I am not ashamed because it was raining and I was cozy and it was what I needed, and I got a lot of judgement but I just am who I am.  Also, if anyone else out there is already listening to Christmas music like I am, Arianna Grande's Christmas music is just art, it's pure art.

Anyways today I'm sharing with y'all a few of my favorite art products because with school coming up, I feel like it's nice to have a hobby that you can turn to to relieve a bit of stress, and for me that's drawing so I thought I would tell y'all what I use!  I start by drawing the outline of whatever I'm drawing (usually little people with cute clothes hehe) with a standard art pencil, like this one.  Then I will go over that in more detail with the prismacolor .005 pen, which is by far my favorite I've ever used!  Then to color the illustration I'll either use crayola colored pencils, which I know is basic but I'm not a fancy professional and they do the job, or I will use copic markers if I am feeling a little fancy!  And then sometimes to finish it off I will use a little Martha Stewart glitter with the Martha Stewart glitter glue just to add a little pizazz to the drawing!

And that's what I love to use whenever I draw!  I hope y'all have an amazing day, and I will talk to y'all very soon!

My Autumn Fashion Inspiration

Hello everyone and happy Saturday!  Today I made a lil roundup of a few pictures that are inspiring me for the coming autumn fashion season!  As you can see, I'm loving chunky-cozy knits, pretty necklaces, and all around casual cuteness (basically what fall is all about right?).  I hope this gets you all in the mood to start getting into the autumn swing of things, oh and by the way I've just set up a pinterest so click here to give it a look!  Have a wonderful day and I will speak to y'all very soon!

My Favorite Fall Beauty Trends

Hello friends!!  My life recently has been a scramble of getting ready for college and trying not to stress out too much about it, but in the midst of that I have been getting so so excited for fall (as I have said a million times plz don't judge me).  So today I thought I'd do a lil roundup of some fall-ish beauty trends that I either rely on every year, or am excited to try out this year!

1 // Dark Plum Lips

This is an old favorite of mine because there's just something about dark plum lipstick that makes me feel so fall and also dramatic which everyone loves right?  My favorite plum lipsticks are Maybelline's Plum Perfect and Nyx's Soft Matte in Copenhagen.

2 // Matte-Smoky Brown Eyes

I think this is the most gorgeous look for everyday in the fall.  Really you just need one matte brown shade that you can smoke out on your eye, and your ready to go for class or anything!  For this look I will probably use the Too Face Natural Eyes palette as they have super gorgeous matte brown shades!

3 // Nineties-ish Brown Lips

Honestly I love everything about the 90s from the TV to the (sometimes questionable) fashion, to the makeup trends that are coming back in!  My favorite one is the brown lipstick trend, which has been huge this summer, and I think will look so gorgeous in fall and on into winter as well!  For this I love Nyx's Soft Matte in London, but I'm also dying to try their Lip Lingerie in Sandstorm!

4 // Red Lips + Gold Eyes

This is my favorite look every year without fail, there's something so amazingly festive about the combination of a beautiful red lip with a sparkly gold eye.  My go-to's are Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 107 with the Benefit World Famous Neutrals palette, using the shade Gilt-y Pleasure (the most amazing gold eyeshadow ever!).

Although summer beauty is amazing, there's something so much more dramatic and exciting about fall makeup that I'm so excited to start wearing again.  I hope y'all enjoyed this post and I'll talk to y'all very soon!

Autumn Style Staples

I feel like fall may be one of my favorite seasons for many reasons, but mainly for the clothes.  I mean don't get me wrong, shorts and bikinis are great, but there's such relief in just putting on your favorite jeans and snuggliest sweater and just living your life in actual comfort you know?  As I'm going to college in about three weeks, I have been doing some updating to my wardrobe, and in the process I have found a few key contenders that I think will be in constant rotation this fall for me!

1 // The Lace Up Ballet Flat

These have been around on all of the cool fashion it girls for a while now, and I finally decided to try a pair and ya'll... these are literally so flattering and they add so much to every outfit I've put them with so far.  These are from Target, but I also got a pair from Old Navy in the olive color that I love as well!

2 // The Floaty White Blouse

There's honestly nothing like a pretty white shirt, it goes with any outfit and immediately makes you look pulled together.  This one is so gorgeous, I found it at Target but I couldn't find it online to link, so if you can find it at your Target it's your lucky day!

3 // The Mom Jean

Ok, hear me out, if you have your doubts about the mom jean trend, trust me I've been in your shoes!  But then I found these Madewell mom jeans in our J.Crew warehouse store, and I thought I would try them out, thinking I would absolutely hate them.  But y'all, they are seriously so flattering and also so so comfortable, I cannot wait to wear these all the time in the fall (tbh I wear them all the time now too hehe...).

4 // The Gold Hoop

I've talked about how much I wear these gold hoops now, but I honestly think they're going to look so cute in the fall with sweaters and boots!  I love how casual these are, but they're still so fun.  I don't know where these are from, but any gold hoops will do honestly!

With literally everyone writing fall posts, and stores putting out Halloween stuff (a little overkill, but I'm going with it) I'm just so excited for cooler days... but still sad about saying goodbye to summer. It's just a stressful time, but getting able to drink warm chai tea's again without melting will make it easier!

My top 4 style icons

Hellooo everyone and happy Wednesday!  I thought I'd write a little bit about the 4 people whose style inspires me the most to put down the sweatpants and pick up something a little more high fashion (aka jeans probably, but it's a little upgrade right?).  I chose people who I genuinely love every outfit they put on, so it actually did take me a while to pick these out, so I hope y'all enjoy!

1 // Blair Eadie (Atlantic-Pacific)

I have been following Atlantic-Pacific since literally Middle School, and every single post has made me want to go out and buy everything to recreate the look.  I love how she takes fun pieces and makes something completely unexpected, and something that always somehow looks timeless!

2 // Audrey Hepburn

Speaking of timeless, it can't get much more timeless than Audrey Hepburn.  To me, her style is everything I aim for.  I love her timeless pieces and how she always looks polished and still a little bit whimsical at the same time.  Also, her ballet flats give me life, you know?

3 // Rachel Green

Ok, I know Rachel Green obviously isn't real, but that doesn't mean I can't be obsessed with her style right?  Honestly, just about everything Rachel wears (especially in the first few seasons) is just amazing.  As the 90s are making a booming comeback, I think Rachel's style is my guideline to pulling off all things from the greatest decade (I was born in the 90s so I can call it that right?).

4 // Karlie Kloss

All models off duty provide some A+ style inspiration, but Karlie is one of my style icons because of the way she always looks polished and elegant.  Maybe it's because she's basically a human gazelle, but everything she wears looks so chic that it makes me immediately want to see if I can pull it off.  Whether I actually can is a whole other question, but the bottom line is I just want to be Karlie Kloss (don't we all?).

I hope y'all enjoyed this post, and maybe got some style inspiration out of it for yourselves!  Have a wonderful rest of you day, and I will talk to y'all very soon!

My School Bag Essentials

Hello everyone!  I hope you all are having a wonderful Monday wherever you are, I know I am!  As it's the second week of August already, I figured it was about time to start rolling out the old back-to-school posts.  As hard as it is to leave summer behind, back-to-school is honestly such an exciting time.  Mainly because of shopping, not so much the actual going back to school, but I mean shopping is shopping right?

So today as my first back-to-school post I thought I'd write about the essentials for survival that you need in your school bag, because I mean school can be a real battle for survival am I right?

1 // Gum

This made the cut for two reasons, 1) I'm addicted to gum and honestly who isn't and 2) because when you have gum everyone knows you get about a million people asking you for some which means you get a million opportunities to make new friends! Yay for new friends!!!

2 // Lip Balm

So essential because if we're all honest here, sometimes a Kylie lip kit can leave your lips feeling like they're going to die of dehydration by 12 pm.

3 // Phone Charger

My phone went through this phase in Junior year where by the time I got to my 1 pm free period, it would be dead, so ever since then I always keep a charger in my backpack in case my phone goes through another stressful phase.

4 // Planner

I mean, this isn't absolutely essential, but to me it is because if I don't write down test dates and stuff like that right away, then it's stressville for me.

5 // Kind Bars, etc.

Basically any kind of semi healthy snack, especially if you have back to back classes all day, eating something will prevent any sort of energy slump and help your lil brain get back into gear!

I feel like this is a pretty basic list of essentials, but I mean without these things in a long school day could cause some sort of meltdown for me so I feel like they're pretty important... Anyways, I hope y'all have a great rest of your day and I'll talk to you very soon!

July Favorites | 2016

Currently crying inside a little bit because July is already over... how can this be?  At least that means fall is coming soon though, not to be basic but my heart really does beat a little faster for a pumpkin spice latte (I'm sorry ok?).  Anyways, here are my favorite things from this July!

1 // Target Button Through Skirt

I've been seeing button through skirts around for a while now, and I absolutely loove this one from Target!  It goes with absolutely everything and I have loved throwing this on all month!

2 // Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer

This is a highlighter/concealer, and it is such a gorgeous product.  I have used this legit every single day this month, and I love love love the finish this gives my face!

3 // Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

I have gone through I lot of love/hate with this mascara, but right now I'm loving it!  It does an amazing job of separating the lashes and curling them up, although the only downside I would say is that the applicator is a little bit rough on my eyes for whatever reason!

4 // Elf Contour Kit

I think I've talked about this a bunch on here already, but the contour shade in this palette is just so good!  I also love the bronzer in it too, mainly because it's matte and also it's a nice warm tone that I just find so flattering!

5 // Kate Spade Crossbody Purse

This was given to me as a very kind gift, and I couldn't find it online, but it's such a lovely purse and also it's in one of my favorite colors!  I'm now on the market to find a cute pouf to put on it, or something trendy like that...

6 // Clinique Blended Face Powder

I've had this for forever, but recently I've really liked applying it with my beauty blender, for whatever reason I feel like it just sets my under-eyes so much better than doing it with a brush!

And those are my favorites for this month!  Although I'm sad this is my last month of summer, I've gotta be honest I am SO excited for fall... I know I'm weird y'all!
