My Makeup Collection // How I Organize My Makeup

Aloha friends!  I hope y'all are all doing wonderfully today!  It's still cold here, surprise surprise.  But, big news y'all, I'm going to Cancun in three weeks!  I am SO excited.  Basically the thought of 70+ degree weather is really keeping me going right now.

Anyways, today I thought I would share with y'all my makeup collection and a few organization tips that I have!  I'm not sure if this is a "normal" size makeup collection, or if there even is a normal size for someone's makeup collection/if it even matters, but I just thought it would be fun to share this lil tidbit of my life!

This is the first drawer of my collection, and in it I keep mostly my palettes, but also a few other random things that I couldn't really find a place for in the other drawer.  In the big basket I keep all of my palettes, I have my Naked3, the Too Face Natural Eyes one, my favorite Benefit World's Most Glamorous Nudes one, along with a few others.  In the small little glass jar to the left I keep eyeliners, I only have about 5 or so, which is why it looks so sad over there lol.  In the little wooden basket I keep cream eyeshadows and also that random little Clinique duo that didn't go anywhere else, so I just chucked it in there.

This is the top of my counter in my bathroom, where I keep brushes and perfumes on this little antique tray.  As you can see I keep my brushes in a mason jar, I actually don't have many brushes and am on the hunt for good ones to add to my collection as of the moment!  My beauty blender is also awkwardly chilling right there, because I don't really know how to store it if we're going to be honest here.  To the left of the brushes are all of my perfumes, including my Brooks Brothers one, which I wear all. the. time.  Then to the right of my brushes I keep my bubble baths, one of which is by Illume and smells like Christmas, and its honestly so so amazing.

And finally, this is the second drawer of my makeup collection.  This drawer is such a random mish-mosh of literally everything.  I really like these baskets because they're tall so the products can be stood up, and they have just the right amount of little compartments for all ma stuff.  Starting on the left, in the very top corner square I keep foundations and concealers, in the next square down I keep all my mascaras, and in the bottom one I keep the rest of my foundations and concealers.  Then in the big long thing I keep all my lip products, with lipsticks stood up and glosses and chubby stick type things lying down.  Then in the basket to the right, starting in the top left square, I keep my powders, which is a pretty slim category in my collection!  Then in the square below that one I keep any brow products I might have, then below that I keep a few odd bronzer things.  Then in the long part, I keep any and all blush/highlight products.  Honestly I have a lot more blushes than I realized, which is weird because I never remember buying a lot of blushes, but I guess I did, maybe in my sleep or something?

And that's my collection!  I don't know how useful my organization methods are, but so far they've been working for me!  I hope y'all thought this was exciting... am I the only one who gets excited watching other people's makeup collections?  Maybe...Probably...

Hope y'all are having a great day and aren't too cold!

Winter 2016 Fashion Inspiration Board

I don't know about y'all but today I was hit with a major case of the blah's - I had a headache, it was cold, and I had loads of homework that I was (and still am...) procrastinating on.  So what was I to do in such desperate times but do a little online shopping?  I find there's nothing like putting a million things you'll never buy into your cart to brighten any winter day.

Hope the winter greys are avoiding y'all wherever you are!

Top Three Holy Grail Drugstore Foundations

Happy Monday y'all! I started Spring Semester today, it feels SO weird to sit in a classroom again after a month off.  I don't know about y'all but I'm already dreaming of spring weather in a big way... I've thought about moving to the Bahamas a few times in past few days, especially this morning when my car doors were casually frozen shut.

Anywayyys, lets discuss my top three drugstore foundations, shall we?

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation //  I feel like I've talked about this stuff a million times, but it's just so so amazing.  It blends like a dream, and never ever looks cakey.  It has the most gorgeous satin finish and I find myself reaching for it time and time again!  Also it smells nice... which again I feel like I've said a million times but, oh well!

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation //  Just like I feel like Maybelline is dominating the drugstore mascara field, I feel like Rimmel is the best in drugstore foundations.  This one is a little thicker than the Match Perfection one, but this also has a really amazing finish that is a little more full coverage.  I use either this one or Match Perfection almost every single day honestly!

L'OrĂ©al True Match Foundation // Sooo when I'm not wearing the two Rimmel foundations, I'm most likely wearing this one.  I sort of stopped using this for a while and kind of forgot how nice it is, but I just recently picked it back up and fell in love again!  It is really light feeling on the skin, its almost a watery consistency, and the finished result is a really pretty, satin-y finish that looks really natural and fresh.

And those are my three faves y'all!  I hope y'all stay warm and safe out there, here's hoping that groundhog doesn't see its shadow in a few weeks so we can start warming up a little earlier!

Product Review: Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette

I have been wanting to try this palette for ages, and have just now been lucky enough to get my hands on it as it was a Christmas gift.  I thought I would do a little review of it in case any of you are curious and want to know if it's worth the purchase.

Honestly, I was so happy with the quality of this product.  The shadows are really nice and buttery and the shade selection is one of my favorites.  I love how wearable every single color is, and was really pleased at how many matte shades there are.  So far my favorite shades are Honey Pot and Silk Teddy, they are just the most amazing metallic pink and gold shades, and honestly they make me so happy!

I would say this palette is amazing if you are maybe just starting out and want something thats going to fulfill all your eyeshadow needs, as this has a wide variety of shades and finishes, and is for sure worth the price.

So, all in all, quite happy with the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette, as I always knew I would be.  I hope some of y'all try it out sometime and are just as pleased as I.  Hope y'all are having an amazing day!

5 Minute Everyday Makeup Look

Hey y'all!  Yesterday I did a post on how to get back into a routine for school, so today I thought I would do a super simple makeup look that is perfect for rushed school mornings (alarm mishaps anyone?).  I wanted to use the Too Face Natural Eyes palette because I just got it for Christmas and it is simply amazing (I'm doing a review on it tomorrow just FYI!). Here is a look I would do on a school day that won't make me mega late for 8 AM math class:

1 // First, with a wet beauty blender, I applied Rimmel's Match Perfection Foundation, which I talk about all the time and is amazing.  I chose this because it blends really fast and seamlessly and with a damp beauty blender has the most amazing finish.

2 // Next I toom Maybelline's Age Rewind Concealer and just applied that in a triangle in my under eye areas and blend out with my beauty blender as well.

3 // For brows I just brushed through them and then quickly filled them in with L'Oreal's brow stylist thing that I mentioned in a post not too long ago that I conveniently forgot the name of!

4 // Next I took Clinique's Cream Blush Stick and blended that onto my cheeks with a stippling brush.

5 // For eyes I took the Too Faced palette and took the shade Heaven as the base all over my eyelids and  on my brow bone as well.  Then I just took the shade Silk Teddy and applied that all over my lids as well for a really pretty golden shimmer.  I finished that off with two coats of Maybelline's Lash Sensational mascara on my top and bottom lashes.

6 // Lastly I will just apply some lip balm, any kind works for this, just so my lips aren't chapped during the day, and then I'm off!

I hope y'all enjoyed this post, and hopefully it will help during those frantic Monday morning scrambles to make it to class on time!

5 Tips for Going Back to School

So I know this isn't the traditional "back to school" time, but if we all face reality here, school either starts back next week or the next for all of us who are still gettin' educated.  After a nice long Christmas break, it's usually a process for me to get back into the swing of things at school, so I thought I might share with y'all some tips for how I make it back to school without curling into a ball and crying (sometimes that happens though, it just happens).

1 // Start Waking Up Earlier Before You Have to Go Back

This is a painful one, so I went ahead and got it over with.  Nothing is worse than being used to sleeping in till 10 in the morning (or 1 in the afternoon...) and then that first day of school comes and you literally feel dead because it's 6 AM and it feels like 2 AM.  So what I do is try to gradually start waking up a few hours earlier leading up to school.  Nothing major, just 8 AM or so, just so my body gets re-adjusted to getting moving earlier.

2 // Write Out Schedule Beforehand

I don't know about y'all, but it can be pretty overwhelming getting a whole new schedule of classes each semester, and so to help myself mentally sort all of the information, I take a sticky note and write out each class, what time it is, the professor's name, and what room it's in.  This makes me feel much more prepared before the first day comes, and helps me know I won't get lost looking for my classes.

3 // Have Notebooks for Each Class

This may sound like a no-brainer, but it's so important to have designated notebooks for every single class.  I use any spiral bound notebook that has pockets in it, and keep all of my notes and handouts from each class in its own notebook.  This way nothing gets lost or confused, and I don't end up missing 5 assignments.  Happy times!

4 // Set Goals

Setting goals for the semester helps me remember what I want to focus on, whether it be pulling an A in math or getting a 7 or above on every AP Euro essay.  This keeps me focused, and when procrastination hits it's nice to have that thought in my head of what I wanted to achieve at the beginning of the semester.

5 // Set Aside Time for You

School can get real busy real fast, and it can be easy to work work work and forget about setting aside any time to rest and relax, and just unwind.  I didn't really realize how important this is until this semester, because I just realized that while school is SO important, being happy is even more important.  Even if it's just watching an episode of your favorite TV show, schedule this into your daily life!

I hope this helps anyone who is going back to school, or even going back to work, and that it inspires you to get into a healthy routine.  I hope 2016 is rocking for all of you so far!

December Favorites 2015

It's the new year y'all!  I seriously cannot believe that it's 2016 right now... I'm so excited for all of the adventures and opportunities to come in this new year, and I am praying that this year is full of love and joy for all of us!  And without further ado, let me proceed to talk about my December favorites!

I feel like this is a weird group of items, it's also a really small bunch just because December was SO busy and I feel like with all of the gift-buying and what not my funds were hurting a bit, so I didn't really try out many new beauty products.  But hey, that's what keeps favorites interesting, right?

1 // Q&A a Day: 5-Year Journal

So I haven't actually started using this journal, but I just really wanted it in my favorites because I have been so excited about this ever since I saw it in Anthropologie one fateful day (btw an Anthropologie just opened in Asheville and I'm so happy about it).  Basically this journal has a question for each day of the year, and on each page there are five spaces for each year's answer, which I just think is a brilliant idea.  I'm so excited to start filling it in and being able to look back at my answers through the years.  I feel like I will stick to this journal more because I don't have the pressure of writing a whole page about my day, you know?

2 // Illume Holiday Bubble Bath

What's this?  Another holiday scented  product from Illume on a favorites?  Safe to say I'm obsessed with this brand, just a lil bit.  This bubble bath is so lovely.  I'm just personally a huge fan of anything holiday scented, and also am a huge fan of baths, so basically this was everything that makes me happy in this world.

3 // Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: The Illustrated Edition

Confession time: I'm a nerd.  Like, I've read the whole Harry Potter series 5 times, can quote all of the movies back and front, and often think about which house I would have been sorted in should I have attended Hogwarts (still struggling with this honestly, my heart says Gryffindor but my head is like, nah Hufflepuff).  So when this came out, all of my dreams came true.  Once I got my hands on this, it was honestly one of the best moments in my life.  The illustrations are seriously amazing, and I just love how they bring the story to life in a whole new way, and it just makes me so happy.  Nerd status reached.

4 // Clinique A Case of the Pretties Set

Honestly, by this point I think its obvious that I really like Clinique.  It was the first brand of makeup I ever wore, so I think it will always hold a special place in my heart.  Also all of their products are just lovely, so really its a no fail situation (is that a thing?).  This palette is just so handy to me.  It's got 7 eyeshadows, 4 lip colors, and 2 blushes, so honestly you're all set if you got this lil guy.  All of the colors are right up my alley and I also love the bright pink and orange packaging, its a nice little bright spot in these gray winter days!

Well friends, I'm off to explore the future that we live in aka 2016.  And by explore I mean I'm going down to the kitchen to find food before I have to go to a party tonight.  Always keepin it real.
