Top Five Beauty Products of 2015

Happy almost New Year guys!  I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and were able to have a restful time celebrating with loved ones.  Now that I have finally recovered from my chocolate coma, I thought I would write about my top five beauty products that I reached for again and again in 2015.  It was SO hard to narrow it down to just five, but in the end I made it, so I hope y'all enjoy this post!

This stuff, oh my gosh.  It has such a silky finish on the skin and really does an amazing job of covering up any redness and blemishes.  I find its sort of a foolproof foundation for me, it never looks cakey or too heavy and I honestly love the finish on my skin SO much,

I'm pretty sure I have talked about this mascara like a million times already, but each time I use it I'm even more impressed by it.  I wore it yesterday with no other makeup on at all, and I looked in the mirror halfway through the day and was so impressed by how much it lifted my face.  I love so much that it doesn't make my lashes stick together because that is such a pet peeve of mine.

This is my go to blush for a healthy pop of color.  It looks pretty scary in the pan as its a super bright pink and it looks like it will give me the 'ol clown effect, but it really doesn't.  Its super easy to apply and isn't patchy or too pigmented or anything, and I just found myself going for this almost every single day!

I looooove this stuff so much.  So so much.  First of all, it smells like cotton candy which honestly, is reason enough to love it for me, but wait, there's more.  It gives the most beautiful sheen and is not heavy or sticky at all.  I put this on and it instantly makes me feel like a princess, which we all need in everyday life, am I right?

So if you are still struggling with hitting the perfect contour, this is lil dude is your new best friend. Seriously, this stuff makes your cheekbones POP.  Like Angelina Jolie pop.  The contour shade is not too warm, so you won't come off looking muddy or dirty if you have pale skin like me, and the highlight is so beautiful and nice and subtle, so I find its nice for an everyday look.

I don't know about y'all but I am so so excited/ready for 2016.  Personally, New Years is one of my favorite holidays just because I love the good fresh start it gives!  I've already made some resolutions... eating less chocolate isn't one of them, but I'm beginning to feel it should be...

See you all in the new year!

Introducing A New Blog Name!

So, quick PSA, I've just changed the name of this blog from Fashion is Funny to Makeup is Funny. Why you ask, did I do this thing?  Because I decided, after much thought, that I wanted my primary focus of this blog to be more on beauty than fashion, thus makeup replaced fashion! Hope y'all like it and are having a super wonderful Christmas Eve Eve!

Holiday Series | Cozy Holiday Night Routine

As Christmas is fast approaching, I love to have cozy pamper nights more and more.  The dropping temperatures aren't helping with my growing obsession, but I'm not complaining, as last week it was 70 degrees, which doesn't really feel like Christmas to me, you know?

Anyways, here is my usual layout for a nice cozy pamper evening around the Christmas season...

1 // I always start out my pamper evenings with a nice warm bath, which is one of my favorite things to do ever.  Usually I will put some bath salts in there, and put on a nice movie, usually something that makes me feel happy, like Elf or While You Were Sleeping

2 // After my bath, I take off my makeup.  Lately I have been sticking to the same products I mentioned in my November Favorites post, which are Obagi face wash and Everyday Coconut face lotion.  I start with the Obagi cleanser, then I use Vaseline on a Q-tip (weird, I know) to remove any leftover eye makeup.  Next I apply the Everyday Coconut face lotion, then finish with the coconut Chapstick, which I've been loving

3 // Once my face is primed for the night, I'll change into some comfy pajamas, put on some wool socks (these are the best!), and get into my bed!  Then I'll either watch some Friends or Parks and Rec on Netflix, or I'll read whatever book I'm currently reading (right now its all Agatha Christie!) and read/watch for about an hour or so.  Usually I'll light a candle here, and all my christmas lights that I have strung around my bed are on, which gives a cozy glow to my room

4 // After a bit of reading/watching, I will wrap up my evening with a quiet time of praying and reading the Bible.  This is the best thing to put me at peace and give me joy to finish my day and my cozy evening!

And thats all folks!  Hope you all enjoyed it, and I hope you guys are having a wonderful Christmas season!

Holiday Series | The Best Festive Cookies

Hey friends!  Well Christmas is... drumroll please... four days away!!  Can you believe it?  I can't wait, but I'm also gonna be a little sad because the season is going to be over... but we have four days left, so lets make the most of them by making festive cookies, right?

These are snickerdoodles, which I personally love and think are so festive, so I thought I would share the recipe I used to make these, because honestly, they are SO good, if I do say so myself.  The recipe is titled Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles, and y'all they are the best ever.  Ever.

Ingredients -

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Directions -
1 // Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C)

2 // Cream together butter, shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.  Blend in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.  Shape dough by rounded spoonful into balls.

3 // Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon.  Roll balls of dough in mixture.  Place 2 inches apart on un-greased baking sheets.

4 // Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until set but not too hard.  Remove immediately from sheets.

And enjoy!  Hope y'all love these as much as me and my whole family did, I can assure you they vanish pretty quickly!

Holiday Series | My Top Five All-Time Favorite Christmas Movies

Elf - Is there anyone, anyone, who doesn't love this movie (if there is, and its you, we need to have a serious talk).  Seriously, I laugh about once every minute watching this movie.  This is such a classic that to me, it doesn't feel like Christmas without watching this at least 100 times.  Key words: at least.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York -  Is it weird that I like this one better than the first one?  Honestly both are brilliant, and it was a really tough call, but I just really appreciate the grandeur that he indulges in while in NYC.  I feel like as a child this was my dream maybe....

(Side note, do y'all know the song "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?"  I'm listening to it right now, I love love love it!)

Love Actually - I actually love this movie.  That was terrible, I'm sorry, that was just sad.  Anyways, this movie is the. most. amazing. thing.  I cry every time, and believe me, it is very very rare for me to ever cry in a film.  But every time I see the little boy run through the airport to say goodbye to his crush (does anyone else think she dresses eerily similar to an American Girl of that era?) I mean, the tears are just pouring.  And don't even get me started on the Aurelia/Jaime storyline.  I die.  If you want the movie equivalent of a warm hug, this is it.

Arthur's Perfect Christmas - Oh my gosh... I'm laughing at myself writing this.  All my friends make fun of how much I love this movie, but like honestly its gold.  Its gold I tell you.  I mean ok it has this great message that Christmas isn't about a perfect day, but about being with people you love, which is like A+, and also I just love the animation, and ok maybe I am an 8 year old inside, but don't judge me till you watch it, ok?

While You Were Sleeping - I know this isn't maybe a traditional Christmas movie, but it happens at Christmas ok?  And it is just so good.  Like, ugh.  I love it.  Its such a feel good movie, and every time I watch it I want to be a part of that family more and more, mainly because the Grandma is all of us ever,

Well friends, these are the films that I particularly enjoy during the holidays every year.  I hope y'all enjoyed this post, and have a wonderful day!

Holiday Series | My Christmas Wishlist

I don't know about y'all, but for me half the fun of the build up to Christmas is picking out the perfect gifts for friends and family.  With four siblings, a sister-in-law, and my parents, I always have my work cut out for me!  Buuuut... I'm not gonna lie, I like to build up my own wishlist too, because its Christmas, you know?

Honestly, I'm so excited about this Harry Potter illustrated book.  Like me and my best friend have been nerding out over it for a solid two months, no shame.  Also, can we talk about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit?  Life changing.

Happy shopping friends... and don't forget, while you're out there shopping for your family and friends, don't deny yourself the joy of scoping out your own wishlist.  No shame!!

Happy shopping!

Yes To Grapefruit Pore Perfection Toning Mist Review

I bought this Yes To Grapefruit mist about two weeks ago, and have been using it daily since to prime my face before makeup, and I am 100% in love!  It smells SO nice and fresh, and doesn't have a sickly artificial grapefruit scent at all.  It doesn't irritate my skin one bit, which is such a plus as I have pretty sensitive skin, and the Yes To Cucumber face wipes did irritate my skin, so I was a little worried, but no worries on that front!  I think best of all is that once it dries on your face, it leaves the skin with the most gorgeous radiant sheen.  The. Most. Gorgeous. Sheen.  The whole Yes To Grapefruit line promises radiant, glowing skin, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed whatsoever.  It also makes foundation sort of glide on, which is amazing.

So, long story short, if you want to look and feel like a glowy amazing princess/supermodel, here's your ticket.  Seriously, its so worth the eleven dollars!  Get over to Target ASAP peeps!

Hope your Hump Day is A++ friends!

Sick-Day Makeup...

Ughhh... I got out of school for Christmas on Friday, and on Friday night I felt a cold coming on.  Oh life.  Yesterday, despite feeling under the weather, I had to go out and brave the world because, ya know, life.  So I thought I would show y'all a super quick, simple way to do makeup that will bring life back into a pale, sick face!

1 // After priming my face (I used this amazing facial mist by Yes To Grapefruit, I'm going to post a review on it tomorrow!), I take Maybelline's Age Rewind concealer and apply that liberally on my chin, under-eye, nose, and t-zone, and blend in with a beauty blender.

2 // Next I fill in my brows with L'Oreal's brow stylist (surprise surprise), and use elf's clear gel to set them in place.

3 // On to blush, I take Clinique's Blushing Blush in Sunset Glow and sweep that across my cheeks.  This is a gorgeous coral-y shade with gold shimmer, and I find it really wakes up my face.

4 // For mascara I used Maybelline's The Falsies, and did two coats on my top and bottom lashes.

5 // To finish the look I used Clinique's Suberbalm Moisturizing Gloss in the color Rootbeer for a really pretty sheer plum shade on my lips.

And thats the look!  Its so quick, and looks so fresh and pretty!  I hope y'all enjoyed this post, now I'm off to find some kleenex!

My Top Five Favorite e.l.f. Products

For those of you who don't know, e.l.f. is a magical/mystical brand of makeup that ranges from the $1-$10 dollar range for most of their products.  Amazing right?  While it is amazing that you can get a lip pencil for less than a pack of gum, this obviously means not all of their products are going to be that great.  I have tried out a fair amount of their products, and these are the five that I find I reach for at least three times a week, so you know they're pretty good!

Tone Correcting Powder

As you can see from this picture, I realllllly like this powder.  I find that it has a sort of blurring effect on my skin, and takes away any redness I might have left after foundation.  Also doesn't make my face look majorly flat, which is a plus!

Contouring Blush and Bronzer (St. Lucia)

If we are going to be real, I do not like the blush in this set at all.  I find it has really poor color pay off and has these huge chunks of gold glitter that I just do not care for.  BUT the reason I included this was that the bronzer in this palette is so so nice.  Its really creamy for a powder, and I find it goes on really smoothly to my skin.  It is super pigmented so for sure go lighter, then build up if you want to.

Prism Eyeshadow Palette (Naked)

Ohhhh my gosh, this stuff is so amazing.  SO amazing.  This hands down is my favorite elf product of all time ever.  These shadows are so so pigmented and buttery, and the shades are just beautiful.  They aren't so much glittery as they are metallic-y if that makes sense, but they just have the most beautiful pay off on your skin.  And for $10 dollars I mean, can it get any better?

This stuff is really just a good, basic eyebrow set.  It doesn't give you crazy dramatic eyebrows, so I find it quite nice for an everyday kinda deal.  I don't use the powder that comes with it that much, but the gel kinda stuff is really A+!

Matte Lipstick (Rich Red)

This is really nice if you are looking for a bright, punchy red thats under $5 (oMG!).  I love the color, it is matte so make sure your lips are moisturized, but it is really good quality and I really love the formula.

And that's my five favorite e.l.f. products for you all!  Hope you guys liked it and I hope you all have a stellar Wednesday!

November Favorites (lil bit late!!) // Candles and more Target Pajamas

Hey y'all!  Happy December to ya!  Is anyone else as incredibly excited for this month as I am?  I mean SO so excited.  The parties, the cookies, the presents, snow, buying gifts, Christmas lights, hot chocolate and a million other things that come with this month just make me so happy.  Also, can we just appreciate that cookies was second on that list?  I've got my priorities sorted obviously.

Anyyyyways, on to the excitin' stuff, November favorites!  This is a little bit late, as its already December 4th (so exciting!!!!), and I've honestly been meaning to write this since Monday, however this is my second to last week of school before break, which means extreme exams and extreme stress.  Keep me in your prayers this next week as I've got exams nearly every day next week, and I'm hoping to hold on to some bits of my sanity!

Oh my gosh I gotta stop rambling... on to the favorites!

Mini (fake) Topiary

Sorry for the sort of sad picture quality, but honestly I'm so in love with this little topiary (it's the one in the back of the picture with the white pot and lights strung round it!).  I got it at Target about two weeks ago, along with the little lights that are around it, and I think its such a cute little addition to my room, and it adds a little pop of something green, and best of all its fake so it won't die!  Pure genius.

I've just gotten this product about a month ago, but I already know its true love between us.  It gives the most beautiful finish to your skin, and really perfects and evens out redness.  I use it with a buffing brush from e.l.f. and it blends quickly and beautifully, and doesn't feel heavy on skin whatsoever.  Soo basically this stuff is brilliant, and only costs 6 dollars, how is that even real??

This concealer has such an amazing consistency, it almost feels like you're putting a thick lotion on, which feels so amazing right about now as its December and my skin is entering dragon mode (ugh). It does what it promises as far as brightening my under eyes, and it really does make me look waaay more awake, which is much needed basically always, am I right?  I'm not really sure why mine is in a pink tub, because on the Ulta website, its in black/clear packaging.  I think this must be old packaging... hmmm.  Packaging mysteries aside, this has been a huge favorite throughout November.

Everyday Coconut Face Lotion

Truth be told, I have had a very love/hate relationship with this lotion brand, mainly because I have tried their body lotion, but found that it was super watery and ended up just drying my skin out even more.  Cue the sadness.  BUT I went out on a limb and tried out their face lotion, and totally loved it, ironically for basically the same reason I hated the body lotion.  While this doesn't dry my face out at all like the body lotion did, its not too thick on my skin and leaves me soft and moisturized but not oily looking at all.  I use it in the morning and the evening and its such a dream!

Ok, I'm just gonna be real with y'all, my eyebrow game I feel like has never been strong.  Like ever.  I have thick brows that just sort of live their own life on my face and I have just let them live until I decided to change my life for the better and reign in the beasts.  And this pencil has helped soooo much with the taming of my eyebrows.  What I love so much about it is that it looks so natural, but you can build it up really easily too.  It also lasts nicely with some clear gel over top, and I find in the mornings when I'm half-asleep, I can still make my eyebrows behave with the help of this lil dude.

Aaaah.  Isn't this just the season for candles?  To me, this is the epitome of perfect Christmas candles.  It smells like a little piece of heaven right in my room, and that is not an exaggeration y'all.  My sweet mom gave me this as a little mid-week pick me up a few weeks ago.  Moms are just the best, aren't they?  Its not a super strong scent, which I prefer because the super strong ones kinda make me feel a little nauseous after too long.  Also, the little box its in is so gorgeous, and once the candle is all burned, you can use it for little trinkets!  Also I really love the coordinating candle set, so festive and amazing.

I know, I know.  Last month it was the pizza pajamas, this month its the fuzzy pink sweatshirt.  You may very well be thinking to yourself, when will the Target pajama madness end?  And I say to you, quoting the great Jessica Day "you question my pajamas, you make me question our entire friendship."  But seriously, what this thing lacks in style, it makes up for in being the most snug, comfy, soft, pink amazing marshmallow sweatshirt.  I liked it so much I bought a matching one for my bestie, so if thats not enough to get you to go buy one, I don't know what is.

Knock Knock Sticky Notes

Aren't these the cutest?  Whenever I use one of these, they always make me smile.  I just love how bright and eye catching they are, and they also have a great stickiness to them, if you know what I mean.  Some sticky notes are always coming unstuck which is just aggravating, but these never have that problem.  Knock Knock is probably one of the cutest brands I have ever seen, they have SO many options of sticky notes and notepads that are all adorable and sure to brighten even the gloomiest day!

Well that was my super long, super chatty November favorites, I hope y'all enjoyed!  Sorry I haven't been blogging so much lately, I have been dying to, but like I said earlier school is demanding a lot of my time lately, but I will be back more regularly in no time!

Face of the Day November 29th

I really liked the way my face looked today (haha) so I thought I would share with y'all what I did.  This is a super quick and easy look, which if you haven't noticed, is kinda my thing when it comes to makeup.  This turned out pretty dewy and fresh looking which I was really pleased with, so if you wanna know what I did with these products, read on!

1 // First I took Rimmel London's Wake Me Up BB cream, and with a damp beauty blender I bounced that onto my face.  Is that a term?  I patted it on, bounced it on, you get the deal right?

2 // Next I used my Maybelline Age Rewind concealer, and just put that in the inner corners of my under eye area, where I have the most darkness, and again blended that out with a damp beauty blender.

3 // Brows next! I just took my L'oreal brow stylist, which I mentioned in my Ulta haul, and brush out and fill in my brows.  This product y'all.  They took my wild crazy brows into Cara D esque brows.  I'm in love.

4 // Next I just popped a little bit of my Clinique blush in Plum Pop I think, and just blended that onto my cheeks.  I literally just put on the tiniest bit of this, I just wanted the slightest pop of pink.

5 // For eyes I swept the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded all over my lids with a fluffy eyeshadow brush.  I also took this to my tear duct and a little below to highlight my inner corner of my eyes.  Next I got a little bit of Nooner from the Naked 3 palette and swept that into my crease and the outer-v area of my eye, and really blended that all in together.

6 // I finished my eyes off with lots of layers of Rimmel London ScandalEyes RetroGlam mascara on my top and bottom lashes.

7 // For the lips, I simply applied this gorgeous L'Oreal lipstick shade in the shade Everbloom, which is a really nice neutral coral color.  These lipsticks are really good and have an amazing shade range, and I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a foolproof drugstore lipstick.

8 // Last, but not least (duh), I spritzed some of Clinique's Happy Heart perfume onto mah self.  This perfume is amazing and I'm sadly almost out of it :'((

So thats my face!  Its a really nice look and didn't take me hardly anytime to create!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Makeup Look: Fresh, Dewy and Rosy

Foundation // Brows // Bronzer // Blush // Lip Gloss // Eye Shadow // Eyeliner // Mascara // Highlighter

Hey y'all!!  So sorry I've been MIA for the past few days, I took a lovely trip down to Atlanta to be with my extended family for Thanksgiving, and was so busy eating turkey I didn't have time to blog!  But never fear, I'm back and better than ever!  Well, I don't really know about that, but it sounds cool so lets just go with it, K?

This is such a gorgeous makeup look, and I think its perfect for everyday.  The Clinique tinted moisturizer is one of my all time favorite products, and I'm actually all out of it right now, which makes me so sad.  It really gives your skin a perfect finish, and I kid you not I get complemented on my skin every time I wear it.  And I mean, thats enough to sell me on any product, am I right?

Here is exactly how I would use these products to get this look:

1 // Apply the Clinique tinted moisturizer all over the face with a damp beauty blender, and make sure to pull a little bit down and blend onto the neck.

2 // Take benefit's Hoola bronzer and sweep onto the hollows of your cheeks, as well as your hairline, and blend in for a natural, subtle bronze.

3 // Take NYX's cream blush with a stippling brush and lightly blend in the tiniest amount to the apples of your cheek, blending upward.

4 // Take benefit's High Beam highlighter and paint onto your cheekbones, blending in lightly with your fingers or the same stippling brush you used to apply the blush.

5 // Take benefit's brow gel and brush through your brows, until you get the desired shape and drama out of your brows, depending on what your preferences are.  Rosie has a pretty natural brow look here, so that is probably what I would choose to go for.

6 // Take benefit's eyeshadow and sweep all over the lid, for a natural subtle shimmer.

7 // Apply Maybelline's gel liner in a medium line across your lid, Rosie's line here is quite dramatic, and is pretty much the focal point of her eye look.

8 // Apply lots of layers of Tarte's mascara, because the mascara in this look is really dramatic and feathery and I think really pulls the whole face together.

9 // Lastly, sweep Laura Mercier's lipgloss on your lips for a natural, rosy tint with a bit of shimmer.

And thats your RHW face done!  I think this is such a simple look to achieve, and I made it more everyday by keeping the base really simple with just the tinted moisturizer, because I think that makes it even more perfect for a go-to everyday look that still comes off as very polished and elegant.

Hope you guys have a very happy Sunday, and that you are all starting to feel all the Holiday joy coming in like I am!  Glad to be back to blogging again!!

6 Pretty Things

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

Seeing as it is Monday and that Thursday could seriously not come fast enough, I thought we could all use a few pretty things to make us feel happy/make us want to bust out the old wallet and buy some stuff.  These are just 6 things that I thought were especially pretty and fun, and that would make great things to give to someone as a gift, or to give to yourself as a gift (no judgement)!

Product Review: CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara

I mentioned this product in my Ulta Haul post, and I bought it because I have been reading lots of rave reviews on magazines and blogs about this, so I thought I'd give it a go! In my haul post, I told y'all that upon using this for the first time I wasn't blown away, and was in fact a little irritated because it was clumping my lashes together.  However I have been using it ever since and thought I would give y'all a more in-depth review on it, now that I have had more experience with it.

Like I said, I have been using this almost everyday for about two weeks, because I really wanted to keep trying it to see if I truly like it or not.  Honestly though, I don't really think I do (#sadness).  Its a super wet formula, and the little spikes on the wand are super short, and to me, that wasn't the best combo.  It sort of gooped on the base of my lashes, and then didn't give a whole lot of volume or length.  What I ended up doing was layering my Rimmel Retroglam mascara over top this to try and give my lashes more pop.  So bottom line verdict?  I don't highly rate this in all honesty, to me its just not a winner!

Sorry for the kinda downer review, but honesty is the best policy, eh?

Happy Monday y'all!

Holiday Series: Gift Guide for Moms

 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

Contrary to my last gift guide, I find that moms are the easiest to shop for.  Moms do so much (so so much) for all of us, all the time, that I thought, you know what, moms deserve their own gift guide!  So here it is!  Also, I just want to say that if you haven't heard of Inslee Haynes, who created the beautiful calendar on the list, you have to visit her website here.  Seriously her stuff is so gorgeous, and I'm obsessed with her botanical calendars for 2016, and I think they make magical gifts!

Christmas is coming friends!

Product Review: Laura Mercier Lip Glacé

So on Tuesday I took a little trip to the makeup counters at my local department stores, and I found some lovely things as always.  The highlight of my trip was visiting the Laura Mercier counter, as I actually don't have that much experience with her products, and let me tell you, I was blown away completely.  Just testing some of her products was like an other worldly experience.  Her powders are so smooth that they almost feel creamy, and everything is always in the most gorgeous packaging.  One thing I did purchase was a set of mini Lip Glacés which are her lipglosses, and I absolutely loveeee them.  Here are the two shades I was particularly blown away with:

The left is in the shade Bare Pink, and the right is in Azalea.  I just love these two, they give the prettiest natural sheen to your lips and really brighten up your face.  The formula is amazing as well, because it doesn't feel sticky or heavy on your lips, and it actually has incredible lasting power for a gloss.  Highly highly recommend these, and I think these shades especially are so lovely for the holidays!

Hope y'all are having a rocking Friday eve!

Holiday Series: Gift Guide for Him

Is it just me, or is it the hardest thing to try and buy Christmas presents for guys?  Every year I think I'll come up with some brilliant gift but end up settling for a pack of socks.  Well, here is a view options that are a lil bit more exciting than a pack of socks (ok there is a pair of socks on this list, but they're like cool socks):

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

I hope this post will help inspire some of you out there who are like me, left scouring Target on December 23rd for anything that even closely resembles a gift.  Also, can we just admire the Star Wars waffle maker? I want it for myself honestly...

Happy Wednesday friends, Thanksgiving is almost here!! #hearteyes

Ulta Haul!

Hello friends!  So the other day I was browsing the web, as we all do, and I stumbled upon Ulta's website (oops...) and this happened!  These are just a few things that I have been wanting to try out and finally got my hands on!

CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara

I'm not entirely sure, but I think that this is a pretty new mascara, and I have been hearing a lot of buzz about it recently so I thought I would give it a go.  I've worn it twice since receiving it on Friday, and I'm on the fence honestly.  This has a plastic applicator, which isn't really my favorite, and it makes my lashes all clump together which drives me insane.  I'm going to keep trying it out though, and I'll keep y'all posted!

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick - Kate Moss Collection in 107

So anyone who watches Zoella on youtube will know that she raves about this lipstick color a lot, and I have been wanting it for a while but could never find it in stores, and I was pretty pumped to find it at last!  It really is the perfect red, its not too bright, and y'all this formula is just amazing.  Really lasting, super easy to apply, and smells like a dream.  If you need a classic red lip (Taylor Swift makeup look anyone?) this one is a no-brainer.

Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation

I have heard wonderful things about this product as well, and I wore it today and honestly was really pleased.  I use Rimmel foundation a lot, but hadn't tried this one down, and honestly the quality is so great.  It gives a really nice satin-y finish on my skin, and doesn't look cakey ayt all.  Also, it smells really good, so thats a big bonus duh!

Rimmel London Wake Me Up BB Cream

Anyone notice a Rimmel theme here?  So I have been looking for the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation foreverrrrr and can not find it anywhere, so I thought I would give the BB cream a try.  I honestly don't have a lot of experience with BB creams, so I'm not sure if this is just the way they are, but this one has a really thick, almost mousse like consistency.  Because of that it was a little difficult to blend, but once it was on I was pretty pleased with it!  Its light coverage obviously, because it is a BB cream, but I just wore it yesterday for sort of a lazy Saturday!

Nyx Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen

I thought this was such a pretty, sort of vampy, lip color for fall, however when I wore it, it was less of a dark wine color and more just a slightly dark red.  However, I wasn't upset because it was a really pretty color!  And I really liked the matte effect, although it was pretty drying so watch out for that!  But honestly, really pleased with this, and I will probably be purchasing more colors soon.

Nyx Cosmetics Illuminator in Ritualistic

I'm always on the hunt for a good highlighter, and I actually am pretty happy with how this one turned out.  It really packs a punch with the highlight, I mean you put it on and you can tell.  But like, in a good way, like a glowy celebrity VS angel kinda way!  I kinda want to try out the other colors of this too... I gotta stop shopping oh my gosh.

L'Oreal Brow Stylist Designer Eyebrow Pencil

Really highly rate this!  I think I'm not alone in saying that filling in eyebrows is hard to do, and my eyebrows honestly have a mind of their own so its just a daily struggle for me.  But this thing is genius for me, the little brush on the end is super handy, and the pencil gives the nicest, most natural effect.  It's seriously so subtle, but it makes the biggest difference.  I love it so much, so so much.

So that was my little haul, I hope y'all enjoyed it a little bit!

Also just wanted to say that this weekend really rocked me, and I am still trying to make sense of the senseless tragedy that happened in Paris.  My prayers are with the victims and the families and all affected by this.  Praying so hard for the whole world right now.  The one thing that struck me most about this whole thing, was that in the midst of this horrible tragedy, whole countries have been gathering together in support of Paris and France, and that just gave me so much hope.  There is so much evil, but there is more good out there than we realize sometimes.  Praying for Paris always.

Face of The Day - Victoria's Secret Inspired!

If you are anything like me, you have been following the happenings of the Victoria's Secret show that happened yesterday and secretly resolving to up your workout game. I was also seriously in awe of the makeup of the show, all of the models had such gorgeous, natural makeup and I thought, why not have a go? My look is slightly less dramatic than theirs, as I'm wearing it to school today and I couldn't really bother with too much drama on my face this AM! Here is how I did my look:

1. First I applied a pea sized amount of Maybelline's FaceStudio Blur + Smooth primer to my t-zone and around my nose/under eye areas, as those places tend to get the most shine on my face.

2. Next I blended Rimmel's Lasting Finish foundation all over my skin with a damp beauty blender, this foundation gives a lovely slightly dewy finish, which I noticed a lot of the Angel's had.

3. Concealer time! First I took Almay's Clear Complexion concealer for any spots I had around my face, then took my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer and used that for under my eyes and around my nose to conceal and redness and/or darkness. I then just set that with the elf Tone-Correcting Powder. I only used the power under my eyes, and kept the rest of my face quite dewy.

4. Now that I've got my skin looking VS flawless, I filled my brows in with a matte brown shadow, any shadow that matches your brow color will work for this!

5. For cheeks I used the Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick in Shy Blush to give my cheeks a really natural looking flush, while keeping the skin dewy and glowy. To add to the glow, I used Arbonne's Sheer Glow Highlighter, which is SO beautiful and adds the most gorgeous glow to my cheeks without being glittery at all.

6. For eyes, I started with Clinique's Chubby Stick Shadow Tint in the shade Fuller Fudge, and just smudged that on my lids and blended it out. This is such a lovely bronze shade that has a little bit of golden sheen. Next I took my Benefit World Famous Neutrals kit, and took the golden shadow in the shade Gilt-y Pleasure and just blended that over top the bronze shade. Next I took the same Benefit kit, and got the shade Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy (beautiful chocolate color with gold flecks) on an angled brush and lined my top lash line with that. I then went over that shade with a really old Benefit cream liner in a bronze color and just lined my lash line with that as well, to make a really nice smoky line thats not too harsh. Last I applied two coats of the Maybelline Voum' Express Colossal Mascara to my top and bottom lashes.

7. And last but not least, for lips I simply applied Clinique's Chubby Stick in Curvy Candy, which is a really pretty sheer bubblegum pink color. This sounds a little Barbie-esque, but it comes out really sheer and just gives a really natural pop of pink.

So thats my look! Its a really beautiful look, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out in the end, and I hope that y'all enjoy it!

Happy Friday Eve my friends!!

Top Three Holy Grail Drugstore Mascaras

If I could only use one makeup product for the rest of my life, it would hands-down be mascara. In magazines, celebrities are always asked that question and they always answer blush or some madness like that, like can we all be real for a sec? Mascara makes such a huge difference on my face, and I have compiled some research on different products, and would have to say that of all my drugstore mascaras, these win KTO. Did I use that right? Oh my gosh I don't think I did... Whatever y'all get me right?

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Honestly, I've mentioned this mascara so many times on this blog, but I don't even care because this stuff is the bomb.com all day long. It doesn't clump, it lengthens, it adds volume, its amazing and perfect and wonderful.  Best of all it stays put allllllll day long. No matter how many of those puppy commercials with Sarah Mclachlan you watch (ok don't hold me to that because honestly those are gut wrenching and not even waterproof mascara stands a chance).

Rimmel London ScandalEyes Retroglam Mascara

I first bought this mascara eons ago, when I was a youngling, before I was even that into makeup and beauty. I was on vacation and at a CVS and I needed new mascara, and I thought this looked cool and maybe promising so I took the plunge. And let me tell you, it has been a staple that I use at least every week, if not everyday, ever since. Now, it did take a little time for me to get used to how it worked, but it gives majorly pumped up lashes. I usually layer this over a more lengthening mascara (usually the one that I mention next) when I'm going out and I want my eyes to really super mega duper pop.

Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Mascara

This stuff is like my mascara equivalent of the old family station wagon, you know? Ok that actually made it sound bad, but I mean that as a totally good thing. I've been relying on this mascara for a good two years now, and have re-bought it a lot. It gives a sort of natural look, in that its not too dramatic and is more lengthening than volumizing. I wear this a lot as a go-to everyday mascara, and as I mentioned above, a lot of times I will pair this with the Rimmel Retroglam Mascara to make my lashes long and volumized to the max.

Hope y'all are having a splendid Tuesday! I know I am!! That literally made me sound like a mix between the energizer bunny and a two year old, but eh its a good day! I've got the day off classes, so I decorate my room for Christmas so I am on top of the world right now no joke. Anyhoo, keep up the good work out there my friends! Talk to ya soon!

Peek at My Bedside Table

So Zoe Sugg of Zoella just did this post a couple of months ago, and I thought it would be fun to do one here! I don't know if mine is that exciting, but I always think its interesting to look at other people's stuff (I'm a lil bit of a snoop to be honest hehe), so I hope y'all enjoy it!

This is what my bedside table looks like every single day, I actually used to have a lamp on it as well, but the other day I knocked it off (typical me move) and the bulb broke and I keep forgetting to replace it! In the white pouffy thing I keep bobby pins and hair clips, because I always have some in my hair by the time I go to bed, and I find myself putting them there every time! I think its original use was to be a sort of phone couch, but I just made up my own use, as one does. This is my favorite devotional, and I love having right here so I can remember to read it every night! I also like this decomposition notebook, which you can't really see, but I try to remember to journal, but I usually fail to be honest! I usually keep some other sort of small notebook, like this Rifle Paper Co. one here, to write down to-do lists and assignments and stuff like that, just to make sure I stay on top of things! I also always keep a highlighter and a pen, because, you know, I'm practical and stuff.

Hope y'all enjoyed this little peek at my humble bedside table! By the way, did anyone watch the LSU vs. Alabama game last night? SO bummed the tigers didn't pull through... although to be honest I'm not a huge sports person... I just keep up with LSU from time to time! Geux Tigers, right?

Holiday Series: Cozy Christmas Movie Night Essentials

Elf // Blanket // Pajamas // Socks // Mug // Candle // Hot Chocolate Mix

I don't know about y'all, but in my family Christmas isn't Christmas without approximately 5057348 views of the movie Elf.  Seriously though, how can you not love this movie?  How can you not say "Bye Buddy, hope you find your Dad" every time someone says goodbye to you?

Cozy Christmas movie nights are just my favorite, I love getting all snug with my hot chocolate and festive candle and enjoying the season!  Also I really like this mug, isn't it sassy?

Hope y'all are having the BEST Friday ever, and if you're not, I hope you can get your hands on a copy of Elf, because I know it'll brighten any day!

Hi and welcome to your first gift guide on my blog friends! This one is dedicated to your bestie and/or sister (or in my case, sister who is a bestie!!). These are all cute little bits that I would want to receive... so I figured, maybe other people will think its fun and cute!!

I have a few more gift guides on the horizon, including one for all the mamas out there, so keep your eyes open for that fun holiday party comin' your way!

Right now I'm in my pizza pajamas (y'all know), listening to Christmas tunes, and just generally having a wonderful Wednesday evening.

Also, if any of y'all are needing a little Wednesday inspiration to brighten your week (I know I always do!), this verse always fills me with joy no matter what:

"God can do anything you know -- far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us." Ephesians 3:20-21

Hope that brightened y'all's day, and remember when times get rough that God never stops loving absolutely everything about you and dancing over you in joy!

Have a wonderful Wednesday y'all!

Holiday Series: Thanksgiving Outfits + Emma Watson Makeup How-to!

Happy Tuesday!! I am currently battling a cold, but have actually had a really productive day despite the sniffling and the sore throat! Huzzah!

Today I'm starting my Holiday Series, in which I will be sharing outfit and makeup inspiration, gift guides, recipes, and just general merriment to get us all in the holiday spirit! This is my favorite time of year, and I hope I can bring some of that joy to y'all to!

With Thanksgiving approaching at a frightening speed (only 23 days OMG!!), my mind is already working overtime to find that perfect Thanksgiving outfit. Why can't my brain work this hard on school? The world may never know... Anyways, below are three outfits I thought would be perfect for any Thanksgiving day, whether casual or more fancy. I also pulled together a makeup look based on one that the always perfect Emma Watson wore to a royal dinner this past year... Enjoy!!

Outfit 1 //

Dress // Boots // Earrings // Purse //

This outfit is fun for a more formal Thanksgiving, and I'm absolutely obsessed with those earrings, which are from H&M and so affordable! Over the knee boots are on trend right now, and more importantly they shield your legs from that unforgiving November chill, win-win right?

Outfit 2 //

Pants // Shirt // Flats // Purse // Beanie // Earrings //

This is fun for running around during the day of Thanksgiving, maybe getting those last minute cans of pumpkin that always seem to be forgotten, or watching the Macy's parade on the couch. This is also nice for that after dinner walk that I always need after a day of feasting.

Outfit 3 //

Dress // Shoes // Earrings // Clutch //

I like this look for a fun, casual Thanksgiving dinner at home with friends and family, and lots of Turkey of course. The colors in the dress are so gorgeous and perfect for Thanksgiving, and its a forgiving cut, which is what we all need come the 26th!

Makeup Look //

Foundation // Brows // Blush // Eyeshadow Quad // Eyeliner // Mascara // Lipstick //

How gorgeous is this makeup look? Its absolutely perfect for Thanksgiving, and did I mention I used all drugstore products? I love it I love it I love it. The L'oreal foundation will make sure you stay matte and not shiny even through a long day of eating and more eating, and the lipstick is such a beautiful color that would go with any of the outfits above!

I hope y'all liked this first installment of my Holiday Series. The series is going to last all the way 'till Christmas day, so get pumped! Can't wait to share lots of cheer and merriment with y'all!

xoxo
